Rana Zahid Mahmood has assumed the charge as Acting Chairman of the Federal Service Tribunal with effect from April 25, 2022. He joined the Tribunal as Judicial Member on November 4, 2021. He hails from Lahore, Punjab and was born into the family of renowned lawyer, Rana Muhammad Bashir Khan, who was senior advocate of Supreme Court of Pakistan and practiced law for almost 36 years. On the steppingstone of his father, he also decided to take Law profession. He, therefore, studied law from reputed Islamia College and University Law College, Lahore. He started his career as an Advocate of High Court in the year 1978. In a short span of time, he was enrolled as an advocate of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of Pakistan in the year 1983. Thereafter in 1987, he joined Judiciary as Additional District & Session Judge after qualifying competitive examination. In this position, he served in different districts of Punjab.
